“HE’S SUPPOSED TO BE AT Wrigley, NOT WAVING SIGNS IN THE STREET!”

While thousands of protesters flooded Michigan Avenue chanting “No Kings — No Exceptions!”, Cubs outfielder Ian Happ — yes, the team captain and fan-favorite — was spotted in the middle of the rally, hoodie pulled tight, Cubs cap on, holding a cardboard sign that read: “Power Belongs to the People.”

Eyewitnesses say the MLB star refused VIP escort access, insisting on marching “as a citizen, not an athlete.” One viral video even shows Happ helping an elderly protester to her feet before shouting along with the crowd:

“No kings. No heroes. No idols!”

Fans on social media lost it — half praising his bravery, half calling it “career suicide.”

“Bro’s gonna get fined before he gets a standing ovation,” one user wrote.
“This is the most Chicago thing ever — a Cub fighting for the people,” another added.

Sources close to the Cubs’ front office told TMZ Sports the organization was “caught off guard” and is currently “discussing how to handle the optics” after the shocking appearance.

But when cornered outside a food truck after the march, Happ reportedly smiled and dropped this line that’s now gone viral:

“If standing with Chicago gets me benched, then bench me next to the people.”

Now that’s one hell of a curveball — both on and off the field.
