In a story that has rocked the baseball world to its core, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías has reportedly admitted to placing over 8,900 illegal bets between 2022 and 2024 — including on MLB games he was actively pitching in.

According to sources close to the investigation, Urías used multiple burner accounts and offshore betting platforms to place wagers totaling more than $1.2 million, before being arrested in early 2024 and serving time in a California correctional facility.

“He lost everything — his team, his endorsements, his reputation,” said one former teammate. “But somehow, he didn’t lose himself.”
Fans were left speechless when court records revealed that Urías allegedly bet against his own team in several minor matchups — a move described by insiders as “career suicide.” MLB immediately suspended him indefinitely, and what was once one of the league’s brightest stars suddenly became its biggest cautionary tale.
But that’s not where the story ends.
After spending five months behind bars, Urías reportedly devoted himself to rehabilitation, faith, and reflection. He has since spoken at youth events about gambling addiction, sharing his journey from “the top of the world to the bottom of a cell.”
In a recent interview, the left-hander opened up:
“I was broken. I thought I was untouchable. But prison humbles you. Now, I just want to play clean — and live clean.”
Now reinstated by the league under strict probation terms, Urías is back in Dodgers camp — quieter, leaner, and with a new fire in his eyes.
Fans are divided: some believe he deserves a second chance, while others say the game should never forgive a man who gambled against it. But one thing’s for sure — his story is far from over.
“Everyone falls,” said one Dodgers insider. “But not everyone climbs back the way Julio’s trying to.”
