“Too many dogs in this country are left on the streets with no care and no hope. They deserve protection, healing, and a real chance at family,” Ohtani said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The sprawling facility — privately funded by Ohtani — features state-of-the-art housing for hundreds of dogs, 24/7 veterinary care, large-scale spay-and-neuter programs, and dedicated enrichment zones where rescued animals can rebuild trust and health before adoption. Every element of “Star Haven” is designed not only to save lives but to help dogs thrive emotionally as well as physically.

Ohtani, who has become an international icon for his dominance on the mound and at the plate, made it clear this project represents a different kind of victory. “Baseball has given me so much,” he explained. “But helping these animals — giving them dignity and love — is something I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.”
