BREAKING: Despite missing the Kings’ summer league roster, Kevin Quiambao continues his NBA dream with workouts scheduled with 5 other NBA teams!

MANILA, Philippines – Kevin Quiambao is not yet giving up on his NBA dreams.

The De La Salle University product, who is now suiting up for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League, will be working out with five NBA teams in hopes of acquiring a Summer League spot, according to Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone.

Cone said he has been in touch with “KQ,” constantly communicating with the Gilas forward as the national team also gears up for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this August.

“I’ve been in communication with KQ. He’s got a workout with five NBA teams on the 11th,” said Cone during the unveiling of new Gilas’ kits designed by sportswear brand adidas on Thursday in Makati.

“On the 11th, he’s working out in front of five NBA front offices and so that will kind of dictate his schedule after that,” he added.

Quiambao recently flew to Sacramento in the United States in hopes of achieving his NBA dreams.

However, he wasn’t able to join the Sacramento Kings’ Summer League roster, where Filipino coach Jimmy Alapag works at.

The Gilas tactician acknowledged that if a team piques an interest on Quiambao, the Gilas gunner will stay in the US “a little bit longer.”

“If he’s able to draw some interest, he might end up being in the Summer League a little bit longer,” said Cone.

The NBA Summer League runs from July 10 to 20 (US time) in Las Vegas.

The 6-foot-6, do-it-all forward from Muntinlupa City, who is currently in Sacramento, was left out of the Sacramento Kings’ roster for the NBA 2K26 Summer League roster which they unveiled on Monday.

Quiambao, who is officially signed with the Goyang Sono Skygunners, averaged 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 23 games in his rookie year in the Korean Basketball League.

Unfortunately, the former De La Salle University superstar, who recently signed a three-year extension with Goyang, will have to stay patient and focus on further training as of present.

The Kings opted to field a roster that is highlighted by their 2025 NBA Draft selections Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud, incoming 2nd-year player Devin Carter, and 2025 G League champions Isaac Jones and Isaiah Crawford.

“‘Di ko alam pa kung anong future naka-handa sa akin. Basta ako, right now, I’m working as hard as I can,” Quiambao said in a previous interview.

“Super positive ako. All for gain naman eh, nothing to lose ako. If ever walang makuhang opportunity, balik ako sa Korea,” he added.

The NBA Summer League runs from July 10 to 20 next week in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Quiambao is expected to turn his focus on his upcoming Gilas Pilipinas stint for their 2025 FIBA Asia Cup campaign in August.
