England’s friendly match against Senegal ended in disappointment for the Three Lions — they lost to an African national team for the first time in history (1:3).
However, one of England’s star players, Jude Bellingham, had a chance to save the team from embarrassment when the opportunity arose.
In the 84th minute, the midfielder sent the ball into the net, seemingly leveling the score at 2:2.
But main official Stephanie Frappart, after a VAR review, disallowed the goal. The reason? An accidental hand pass from Levi Colwill that preceded Bellingham’s goal.
After the match, Harry Kane criticised the referee’s decision, calling it wrong. Legendary Ian Wright was even less restrained during a discussion of the disallowed goal, declaring the referee’s actions “pathetic.”
Once the match ended, cameras captured several emotional moments involving Bellingham. First, he chased after Frappart, trying to explain that the goal should have stood.
Kane had to step in to prevent things from escalating further. Then, visibly furious, Bellingham kicked over a water cooler.
It seems Jude was deeply upset by the result and the lost opportunity to at least help his team avoid a historic defeat.
