Certainly, some shelters maintain excessively cruel policies regarding the fate of “hopeless” dogs. But, fortunately, others are committed to restoring hope to hundreds of furry friends who would otherwise face certain death.

This is one of those stories where we can truly feel the heart of a dog, especially that of a dog who has experienced motherhood. Their love knows no bounds!

Everyone in the shelter was left with tears in their eyes upon witnessing such an act of love.

They take in rescued dogs when there’s no more room elsewhere. Maggie had given her puppies up for adoption a few weeks ago, and these crying puppies didn’t have a mom.
There are no words to describe the instinct and love of a dog who became a mother.

“In each kennel, there’s an opening where we run the water under the grate,” said Alex Aldred, one of the owners.
When all the humans had left, Maggie pushed her water dish and it climbed out through that opening.

Maggie walked down the hallway until she found the orphans. Unable to get under the cage, she pressed her body as close as she could against the bars.

The Aldred family had gone out to dinner that evening, but while checking the security cameras on their phones, they noticed a dog out of its cage. Rushing back from dinner, they arrived and went to the kennel where the puppies were.

The puppies I adopted, Hannah and Kari, thrived on feeling the warmth of their adoptive mom as they grew up. They arrived at the shelter very young, and her love was crucial. We hope the two puppies soon find a loving home, just like Maggie.

This little dog’s incredible gesture demonstrates how much a mother’s heart can hold. The day we learn to love a tenth of what dogs do, the world will be a different place.
