Every dog who has had the misfortune of not being able to live under a safe roof, under the protection of a loving family, yearns immensely for a second chance at life to show what beautiful beings they are and all the love they can give to whoever takes them in.
Esperancita was dying from malnutrition and a terrible case of scabies that caused unbearable itching all over her body on 21 de Marzo Street in Xalapa, Mexico. Her condition was so serious that everyone walking by her decided not to help her, thinking that nothing could be done to save her life.
The association’s volunteers were immediately impressed by Esperancita’s story and condition, so they rushed her to a veterinary clinic where she could be examined.
“She was rescued from extreme malnutrition and skin problems. She weighed only 6 kilograms and could barely stand on her shaky little legs; she had a huge umbilical hernia, gastric problems, and when her food was served, she would take her plate to the corner, where no one would see her. She would only eat when no one was watching; she had a tremendous fear of humans,” the rescuers announced on social media.
The rescuers decided not to give up and gave their all to heal the dog’s heart. With lots of love and patience, the little girl managed to overcome malnutrition, gaining 20 kilograms (44 pounds). She also lost her mange and made a satisfactory recovery from the removal of her tumor.
