Raul Asencio has finally been cleared of any involvement in the scandal of distributing a sex video involving two women, one of whom was a minor.
Because a minor was involved in the video, the case took a different trajectory and is now considered a criminal case.
Everything started on June 15, 2023, at a beach club in Amadores, in the south of Gran Canaria, Spain, when Asencio and three other Real Madrid Castilla players, aged between 20 and 21, met three girls with whom they spent the day having fun.
While the players and the girls were swimming in the pool and having a sunbath, one of the girls told the boys that she was just 16. This information is being used against the players, with the judge stating that they were all aware that she was a minor.
The 16-year-old and another girl, aged 18, agreed to join three of the boys in a private cabin. Their names are Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García. While there, they had consensual sex.
Asencio refused to join the players in the private cabin; he stayed in the poolside with another girl, now his only alibi.
While the other players had sex with the girls, one of them, Ferran Ruiz started to record the sex scene on his phone. He was doing this without the girls’ permission or their knowledge.

Ruiz later passed the phone to Juan Rodríguez, to continue filming the disgusting scene from another angle. That was when one of the girls discovered what was happening. She was surprised and demanded that they stop.
The prosecutor said in court that the videos recorded at that point and seen by the victim were deleted. But the players had already shared the clips using instant messaging.
The videos were sent to specific individuals and chat groups. The recipients opted to store the videos in their phones, with many of them refusing to delete them.

The prosecutor argues that because of the events of that day, the girls/victims, particularly the minor, now suffer from ‘post-traumatic stress disorder associated with anxiety-depressive symptoms’.
The problem has also affected their ‘personal, social, and academic functional capacity.’
Asencio saw the video, but he was not part of the boys who recorded it, nor is there any proof that he shared it with other people.

However, Asencio still has questions to answer as he is a key witness in the criminal case. He was within earshot when it all happened.
The Real Madrid defender will learn to choose his friends wisely after this scandal. As for the other three boys, they’re in serious trouble and risk going to jail for a long time.
