

“She was his constant; his source of comfort on his most difficult days,” the Humane Society of Greater Niagara wrote in a post. “But as her treatments progressed, her health worsened, and he had to make a heartbreaking decision: find someone who could care for her when he could no longer.”

While Minnie’s owner was receiving treatment, her dog faced his own problems, sitting in the shelter watching potential adopters walk by.
“For the first time since the day she was born, Minnie was separated from him,” the shelter wrote. “And even as he battled cancer, he thought about her every day, carried her dog tags in his wallet, and visited the shelter just to see her from afar.”

Years went by without Minnie finding a forever home to fill the void left when she and her beloved owner were forced to separate. But this August, something even better arrived.
