Man City’s obsession with statues screams desperation for history as De Bruyne joins the lineup
Manchester City are at it again — commissioning statues like they’re stocking up for a garden gnome convention. The latest addition? Kevin De Bruyne, the midfield maestro, is set to be immortalized in metal, joining the ranks of Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Agüero outside the Etihad Stadium.

While De Bruyne’s contributions to the club are undeniable, some fans are beginning to wonder if the Etihad is turning into a modern art museum. With each new statue, the line between honoring legends and creating a metallic menagerie blurs.

Sculptor Andy Scott, known for his industrial-style creations, has been the artist behind these tributes. His works, crafted from galvanized steel and transported across the Atlantic, stand tall and gleaming.
As the club continues to celebrate its heroes in statue form, one can’t help but jest: at this rate, even the team mascot might get a monument.
