Meet Faith, a neglected and abandoned dog now fighting for her life. Rescuers are hoping she lives up to her name after she was found starving in a cold, dirty basement in Detroit.

Faith’s fight for survival began when a real estate agent went into the basement of a home recently vacated after the people living there were evicted. What she found horrified her. There, huddled in a corner of the filthy room, was the emaciated dog.
Detroit Pit Crew rushed over to the house to rescue the dog and take her to a veterinary hospital.
Detroit Pit Crew wrote on Facebook: “The kindhearted person that alert us to the dog took the video and sent it to us and thankfully we were only 10 minutes away so we were able to pick the dog up, get her surrendered to us and rush her to a veterinary hospital for care.”

Faith used whatever remaining strength she had to give her rescuers a signal that she was happy to see them. Detroit Pit Crew continued, “Faith was barely able to stand and she was too weak to walk on her own however as we carried her to our rescue truck she still managed to give us some tail wags.”
They have no idea how long Faith had been left alone with no food or water, but she weighed only 30 pounds—half of what she should weigh.

Once at the veterinary hospital, Faith was immediately put on supportive care because her body temperature was dangerously low. She received preliminary “xrays, an ultrasound, bloodwork, fluids and some warming care,” after which she was transferred to an emergency veterinary hospital for further intense medical care.
No one knew if Faith would make it.

The next morning, Faith surprised everyone by showing just how strong a fighter she is. Just a day after she could barely stand, she began walking on her own.
