‘This has been such a frustrating season for me’
Man City’s Nathan Ake reveals extent of his foot injury after undergoing surgery
Nathan Ake is set to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a fractured foot.
The 30-year-old defender has been a key figure for Pep Guardiola’s side in recent years, making 143 appearances since his arrival from Bournemouth in 2020. However, the current campaign has been plagued by injuries, limiting him to just 18 appearances across all competitions in 2024-25.
Ake’s struggles began with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two months in September and October. He was also absent in December before suffering another muscle issue in January, which kept him out for several weeks.

His latest setback came during Man City’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Plymouth Argyle, where he was substituted at halftime. The Dutch international has since undergone surgery on a long-standing foot problem and will now focus on rehabilitation.
Ake took to Instagram to update fans on his condition following the operation.

‘This has been such a frustrating season for me,’ he wrote. ‘But I have now had a successful surgery on a fracture in my foot which has been bothering me for months and I am looking positively to the future!
‘Rest and recover now, see you soon Cityzens and thank you for your support.’
