An enormous US surveillance jet flies into an American aircraft carrier

Welcome back to Fluctus Channel for a feature of the notorious Dragon Lady, a nickname earned by the U-2 spy planes due to her coping difficulties.

Comments: – – Air refueling allows non-carrier-based aircraft to reach their destination and return to base without the need to land on a ship. While it would be interesting to modify the A-10 to land on an aircraft carrier, it probably never will.

It’s incredible that with such a wingspan they can land and take off from an aircraft carrier. With the elevator created from these wings, you don’t go down, you fly to the ground!!

The idea of suffocating pirates with an A-10 had never occurred to me before, but it’s haunting my imagination as I write. All three of these planes are decades old and this shows that they remain strong airframes full of badassery and endless possibilities.

Standard drones won’t work from “rejected” locations, but they may work from “controversial” sites. An area rejected by definition is “an area under hostile or hostile control in which friendly forces cannot expect to operate successfully within current operational constraints and force capabilities” (DOD). An A-10 will often fail to operate from these areas, as the sites will lack the standard requirements for general military aviation. There are Special Operations aviation assets that can and do operate in areas that are denied due to privacy features, aircraft configuration, and other undisclosed or classified vehicles. Regardless, it’s a very interesting clip!
