‘You’re Doing Great, Little One’—Rescued Baby Raccoon Finds Joy and Confidence Learning to Swim With His Loving Human Dad

When wildlife rescuer Tom Hill found a tiny baby raccoon struggling by the side of a road, he knew he couldn’t leave it behind. The little one, which he named Rocky, was weak and alone.

Tom took Rocky home and nursed him back to health, forming a special bond in the process. As Rocky grew stronger, he grew curious and playful, often mimicking Tom’s actions. One hot summer day, Tom decided it was time to introduce Rocky to something new—swimming.

With a small inflatable pool in the backyard, Tom gently brought Rocky over, showing him how to dip his paws and splash around. At first, Rocky was cautious, clinging tightly to Tom’s hand.

But soon, with Tom’s gentle encouragement, Rocky started paddling his tiny paws and eventually ventured out a bit on his own, gaining confidence with every splash.

The two spent hours together, Tom laughing as Rocky swam laps around the little pool, always circling back to his human dad for reassurance. This playful swimming lesson became a cherished routine, deepening the bond between them.

Rocky’s confidence grew day by day, and Tom felt grateful for every joyful moment with his little swimming buddy, a reminder of the trust and love that transcends species.
