This year, the eagles have successfully produced and hatched three eggs, said Pam Steinhaus, visitor services manager at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.

And the back story to how the unconventional family unit formed is also an interesting one.

The original trio of the group formed in 2013 after the female which was then in the nest chose a new mate and fled the nest that the creatures still call home

The original trio formed in 2013 with a female named Hope who went her own way, according to the Houston Chronicle.

In 2012, Valor I paired up with Hope. But he wasn’t the best parent and would rarely bring food or sit in the nest, Steinhaus explained.

Another a handsome young male eagle named Valor II showed up at the nesting site in 2013, it wasn’t long before Hope dіtсһed Valor I and got together with the new arrival.
