When motherhood moves. A female lion that preyed on a mother baboon protects the remaining baby baboon from male lions (Botswana)

A female lion in Botswana, southern Africa, has been photographed showing her capricious, but motherly behavior, causing surprise and excitement.

In the natural world, there is a law of the fittest. One day, wildlife photographers Evan Schiller and Lisa Holzwald witnessed a lioness preying on a baboon.

It appears that the victim was a mother baboon, holding a baby baboon. The baby baboon climbs a tree to escape, but is quickly discovered.

Will baby baboons continue to be preyed upon? I thought…

The baby baboon climbed a tree to escape from the lion, but it was slow and was quickly discovered by the female lion.

The lion slowly approached the baby baboon, taking care not to scare it, and carried it to safety in his mouth.

Has motherhood been revived? She snuggled close to the baby baboon, as if to protect her child.

The baby baboon immediately relented and surrendered itself to the lion.

Evan and Lisa were surprised by the lion’s unexpected behavior. However, there will be further developments here.

Then a baboon who seems to be the baboon’s father appears.

While the lions were trying to keep each other in check, they succeeded in stealing the baby baboon. The father baboon was worried about the baby baboon and apparently hid in a nearby tree to keep an eye on it.

It may have been a temporary fluke, but thanks to the motherly lioness and the courage of the father, the baby baboon was once again held in its father’s arms.

In fact, female lions have been observed several times trying to protect the cubs of prey animals.
