‘Sing That Again!’—A Baby Elephant Falls Asleep to a Zookeeper’s Gentle Lullaby, Finding Comfort in Her Soothing Voice

In Southeast Asian countries, elephants and people have a close relationship, and elephants have become a part of people’s lives. Thailand is one such country, where the Elephant Nature Park, an animal shelter, protects orphaned elephants and other unfortunate elephants that have been abused by humans.

Farmai was taken into custody at this facility in 2009. The lifespan of Asian elephants is around 50 years. Farmai is currently 7 years old. He was probably much younger when the video was filmed. As Mr. Lek uses a towel to swat away the flies and insects that were on Farmai’s body, Farmai lies on the ground.

An elephant named Famai also lost his parents and became an orphan, and was taken into care at this facility. Fahmei became lonely at a time when he still needed to be pampered, but he opened up to Lek, the female zookeeper.

It seems that Lek-san and Farmai have formed a deep bond.
