Compassionate doctors save exhausted dog who was lost for weeks in the mountains, giving her a second chance

Having a lost pet is a really difficult thing. Owners spend the whole day wondering what will become of their dog and can do nothing but hope that no one will hurt them.

Fortunately, there are times when the furry ones come across loving people who give them all the love in the world and even help them return home. Naoise is a cute Golden who got lost in the middle of a very dangerous area where the chances of her being rescued were terribly low.

Luckily, she came across Jean Francois and Ciara: a pair of doctors who have spent the last year battling the coronavirus. Recently, they decided to take a couple of days off and headed to the Lugnaquilla Mountains in Ireland for a well-deserved hike.

This area is over 900 metres high and the temperatures are so low that no one expects to find a dog there. However, shortly before reaching the top, the doctors found a Golden Retriever that looked very disoriented and distressed.

The little dog was shivering from the cold and was so weak that she could not take another step. With her huge eyes she seemed to be begging them for help, so they stopped their walk before reaching the top.

Using a spare coat they had, they covered her to protect her from the cold. They started down the mountain with her on their backs, but this was so difficult for Jean that they decided to improvise with a scarf and figured out a way to carry her more easily.

As soon as they got home, Jean and Ciara placed her on a warm blanket and gave her some food. The sweet little furry friend seemed very relieved and grateful.

The next day they took her to the vet and contacted several foundations to find out if she was a lost dog.

Her family had been looking for her since mid-January when they lost sight of her during a family outing. The poor thing had been wandering in the mountains for a couple of weeks.

Naoise had a couple of wounds on his paws from the rocks in the mountains so he received a small treatment with antibiotics.
