Life for a homeless mother dog can be absolutely tough. And when you add puppies to the equation, it all becomes a real nightmare.
Not only do they have to worry about desperately searching for a safe refuge to protect what they love most, but they often have to endure the indifference of people, and even the inclemency of true human scourges who dare to harm them.
Stephanie Brooks was walking through New Jersey, United States, when the scene of a dog with a puppy hanging from its mouth devastated her completely.
It looked like she was a young stray who had just given birth. Stephanie had captured the dog and was keeping her safe in a small area of her home, along with her other puppies.
When rescuers arrived, they found a deeply heartbreaking scene. The mother was tightly protecting her babies with her body, so getting her out of there would be a complicated task.
She was too scared and did nothing but growl, but deep down she wanted to be helped.
With the help of a trap, they finally managed to get her out of there. But she did it carefully, making sure not to step on her babies.
The way the mother approached her rescuers made it clear that she was an incredibly sweet dog, and they in turn, spoke to her, telling her that they didn’t want to hurt her, and that they were there to help her.
The rescuers saw that it would be the right time to move the mother and the cubs to their shelter, to take care of them and to ensure that no more lives are lost.
They had to do it while showing the mother her cubs all the time, otherwise she would become very anxious and desperate. Poor thing!
At the veterinary clinic, they fortunately confirmed that all the puppies were healthy and did not require any further care.
But, even though everything seemed to be going well, Jade still showed signs of indescribable distress. And the rescuers could not understand what could be happening to her.
However, later she was so burdened by the realization that she had separated the baby from its mother that she confessed what she had done.
The poor mother silently cried for her little one and did not know how to tell her heroes that she was missing a baby. So they immediately arranged for Jade to be reunited with her lost baby.

After eight weeks of endless love and loving care from their rescuers, all the puppies are now ready to be adopted.
This story could have ended terribly in many ways, but because of Stephanie’s timely call and the neighbor’s coming to her senses, Jade was once again as happy as she could be with the baby she cried so hard for. Dog moms are wonderful, if only they could talk!
