On February 27, 2024, the TikTok account for Saco River Wildlife Center (@sacoriverwildlifecenter) shared a video of a rescue porcupine enjoying a snack while receiving treatment. Take a look.

In a 30-second video, we meet a sweet porcupine receiving care at the Saco River Wildlife Center.

We don’t really get to see porcupines up close very often, and it’s a shame because this guy is so cute. The way he grabs the sweet potato and holds it in his hand, the way his teeth chomp down on the potato, and the cute way he chews is just adorable.

And it’s clear by looking at this porcupine that he’s been through something and is being treated. So the gentle kindness the worker at the wildlife center gives him just makes the video that much sweeter.

“Sweet potato snack for our porcupine patient,” the video’s caption reads. The wildlife center says the injury we see on his face is a result of his skin falling off during treatment. The porcupine is dealing with ringworm, which is also why some of his fur and quills are missing from the top of his head.

In the comment section, people were really thankful for the gentle care the porcupine was receiving at the wildlife center.

“Oh, that poor baby… thank you for helping this little guy,” one TikTok viewer shared.

“If we could all treat the weakest among us with this much kindness,” one person noted.

“Thank you for your gentle care, strong dedication, and beautiful kindness,” shared another.

“Already looking better. Sweet baby,” added someone else.

“Friend shaped but spiky. I want to cuddle it so bad, but I will cry if it rejects my affection,” joked another viewer.

“Poor baby, thank you so much for helping him,” wrote another.

“Poor little guy. Get better soon,” added someone else.
