Since the beginning of the pandemic, life around the world seems to have stopped. All kinds of businesses have had to pause their activities to help comply with isolation measures. However, there are dogs and people with disabilities who still need all the help possible.
Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization dedicated to training assistance dogs to give away free of charge to anyone in need. It is a wonderful endeavor that has made a tremendous impact on the lives of many.
Unfortunately, all of their work has been put on hold during the pandemic. With so many travel restrictions, the service dogs were unable to get to the homes where they were needed or to receive training.
Fortunately, several pilots decided to offer their help and made sure that these puppies reached their destination. They are being transported to various homes where some volunteers are dedicated to giving them their first lessons and making sure that they learn to socialize as much as possible.
The idea is that at these places, the puppies can learn a basic set of 30 commands and thus be prepared to go to a much more specialized school. Best of all, the pilots have a great time with the puppies. A volunteer at Sonoma Jet Center explained that his daughters love to travel with him and the puppies.
After a couple of trips, Josh Hochberg couldn’t resist and decided it was time to have a pet at home. His girls have played a key role in the whole endeavor. They play with the dogs for hours before the trip, so they are exhausted and spend the entire trip sleeping peacefully.
