A good Samaritan arrived at the shelter carrying a dying dog. No one knew if they were going to be able to save her or not, but they did.
She was put in isolation and kept warm with hot water bottles. Emily put blankets and towels in the back of her car to keep Polly warm while she was taken to the vet.
“She lifted her head a little,” Polly’s slight movement gave Emily hope that she would survive.
Emily took Polly to Westchester Animal Clinic instead of an emergency room because the clinic works with rescue animals and sometimes they provide great clinical care without having to pay. The first thing they did was take Polly’s temperature but it wasn’t showing on the thermometer, they thought it was the battery…
But after going for another thermometer, they realized that the temperature was not coming out because the poor thing was so cold.
Sorprendentemente el Dr. Reed dijo que había una posibilidad de que Polly se salvara
He put her in a room with high heat to keep her warm and gave her water and food.
Little by little he began to eat and drink more and more.
«Miss Polly continues to amaze everyone with her improvement, it seems that every day she takes a step forward»
When you see her you can’t help but think that this dog couldn’t be alive because of how skinny she is, but every day she is fighting hard to recover. It’s a great little miracle.
On Monday Dr Reed told Happy Tails that Polly will make a full recovery.
She was moved from the heated room to a regular room. Polly loves all the attention she gets.
«She turns around and turns her back to get her belly scratched and the staff has already seen her standing up on her own to drink water»
Soon Polly will be up for adoption. Since Polly’s story is posted on Facebook, Happy Tails has received more than enough money from people who want to help, now the extra money will be used to help other rescued dogs.
These are more pictures of Polly’s recovery
Polly certainly clung to life and now she will have the opportunity to be put up for adoption and have the life she deserves.
Polly has finally been adopted! Here you can see a picture with her new family and a current photo. Look at that happy face!
